The journey to Narok began at about 6:30am.Members upbeat and in prayers of the Rosary and Marian songs… the company of Mary and the Heavens was evident.
A stop over at the the SGR tunnel, just to view where the 3km tunnel ends from embulbul. This was at about 7 am. Mary Kiragu acted as the tour guide all the way.
We were at Mulot, priest’s house by 10:30 am. Tea was served. pork soup was the main delicacy in preparation to the mountain climbing.
The Holy walk. We departed in the 2 vehicles. It was so rocky that at some point we had to leave one vehicle behind to go in the double cabin, oh my ! When was the last time l sat behind a pick up…
It was an exciting trip of about 3 kms.Soon, we met the catechist who had everything organized, and with our 2 priests ‘The Holy Walk’ to the shrine started at about 12.00. We started with ‘The way of the Cross’ up the rocky , steepy hill.
As we moved up the hill, it became so evident to me that indeed in our christian walk we need each other. It was evident that some needed to be aided to balance through the rocky path, this literally is our pilgrim church/ life as christians.
My second reflection as we walked, suppose Jesus had said he will be there… there would have been no space to fit the magnitude… but you know what , ‘Jesus was Present’ and he had called us for the ‘Holy Walk…’ so next time, be present.. the silent voice calling. so gentle is the voice that many are always likely to miss.
Up the mountain after an hour and a sigh of relief, we have made it!!! with Marian songs, we say Alleluia.
Then,we sit around the table set for mass. The next program started with history of the Shrine by the catechist, then reflection by Fr. Jacob on the Rosary, being the Solemnity of Our Lady of the Rosary.
Fr Jacob stated in his reflection on the Rosary that we need to embrace praying the rosary… each Hail Mary is like crowning The Blessed Virgin Mary with a rose flower… praying the rosary brings blessings and spiritual growth. in the family. Fr reminded us that as marians we need to strive to live for Christ alone… through Mary, with Mary, in Mary and for Mary Mother of God….
This was then followed by confession and mass by Fr. Horace.
The spirit of God was evident, in the heavy breeze up the mountain, and in his creation,
in the reflection, the homily, in each one of us. and in our togetherness.
Fr. Jacob declares at around 5 pm that he is not able to build 8 rooms up the mountain and therefore we have to descend, another 1 hour.
The descending proves to be more challenging to others than the climbing, l hear its something to do with the knees balance… hahaa…
We board, again the rocky journey with a stop over at the springs of hot water…. God’s creation… women doing their laundry with hot water, wacha tu …..
This is around where we had packed the other car.
We drove back to the parish and supper is served in the parish priest house… a delicacy of boiled chicken , yes…. eating healthy… and most of us promise to change our methods of cooking…. we go back and open the gifts… our priests shower us with overwhelming words of blessings…. final prayer and we start our Journey back arriving at montfort house by 11Pm.
Its well., Mary mother of God who accompanied St. Louis De Montfort in all his works has equally accompanied us through it all.
